Josh Paul Haltom, age 40, of Winterset, Iowa, was born on February 15th, 1985 to Paul and Michele (Schenke) Haltom and passed away on July 27th, 2025 at UnityPoint Health Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines after a sudden illness.
Josh was raised in Ankeny, Iowa and graduated from Ankeny High School in 2003. He began working at a young age for Bennink Roofing. Spending over two decades perfecting his craft and growing into a subcontractor. Josh met the love of his life, Codie Gliem in 2013 in Ankeny, shortly after they moved to Winterset. They built a life together where they welcomed three beautiful children Blake, Lily, McKinlee, and took guardianship of Sadie Hawkinson.
Josh's spirit was infectious. Friends and family rarely saw him without a goofy grin or a playful joke at the ready. He lived to make others laugh, and his love of life was on full display whether he was cheering for the Dallas Cowboys or hosting impromptu backyard cook-outs. Josh's greatest strength was his ability to bring light into any room. He taught us that joy isn't just an emotion - it's a choice, made every single day. He'll be remembered for his unforgettable laugh and the way he turned ordinary moments into lifelong memories. His heart was so big it anchored everyone around him.
Josh was preceded in death by his father: Paul Anthony Haltom; sister: Jessica Haltom; brothers: Joseph and Justin Haltom and Dale Corbett; and grandparents: Roger and Anne Schenke.
Left to cherish his memory are his spouse: Codie Gliem; children: Sadie Hawkinson (17), Blake (9), Lily (8), and McKinlee (3) Haltom; mother: Michele Haltom; step-father: Dennis Corbett; grandparents: Larry and Kathryn Haltom; siblings: Lisa (Matthew) Meendering, Breanna (Travis) Kono, Hunter (Kelsey) Haltom; Mason Corbett, and Gabrielle Corbett; as well as five nieces, three nephews, and many other relatives and friends. Josh's legacy lives on in his family's smiles and the roofs he built to stand the test of time. May we carry his spirit of fun and resilience forward, honoring him in every laugh and adventure yet to come.
