Joshua Patrick Hassall, age 26, of Lexington, Ky. passed away on Friday 5/16/25, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center, surrounded by friends and family. Joshua was the son of Barry and Katie Hassall. Joshua's only sibling is Daniel Hassall. Joshua is survived by his Grandmother Patricia Hassall, Uncles Brian (Michelle) Hassall, Tom (Ellen) McKnight, and Aunt Lee (Seber) Clanin. Cousins are Tom Taylor McKnight, Jonathan McKnight, Rebekah Couch, Alexis Hassall, and Sam Hassall. Joshua lived in Lexington his entire life. He was homeschooled and graduated from CHC (Christian Homeschool Co-op). He earned his associate's degree and worked in the food service industry.
Joshua had a big heart. He worked in Hill-N-Dale Christian church's downtown homeless ministry for 8 years. He was active with their youth group - including multiple mission trips and volunteered with the children's ministry. Joshua had a unique personality. He loved sports, hiking at the Red River Gorge, spending time with friends, and listening to music. Basketball was his favorite sport; he greatly enjoyed playing for the BU (Bluegrass United) basketball team during his Senior year of high school.
Joshua was recently rebaptized. We are so happy that Joshua was greeted in heaven by many family members and friends.
Following Joshua's passing, his organs and tissue were donated to those in need. Joshua's remains were cremated and will be scattered at the Lexington Cemetery, scattering gardens. There will be a visitation on Friday (5/23/25) from 2:00 to 4:00 at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home - 3421 Harrodsburg Road Lexington, Ky. followed by a service at 4:00 led by Ernie Perry. Friends and family are invited. If you feel led to donate in memory of Joshua, please consider NAMI Lexington (498 Georgetown Street. #100; Lexington, Ky. 40508), Redeemer Community Church Lex, Ky (formerly called Hill-N-Dale Christian), or the Lexington Humane Society.
