Mr. Joshua “Josh” Dustin Lloyd, beloved husband, devoted father, passionate outdoorsman, and friend to all, passed away July 6, 2025, at the age of 44. Born May 24, 1981, Josh spent his life surrounded by the people and places he loved most. From an early age he felt a deep connection to the outdoors. Whether he was deep in the woods hunting deer, casting a line in the Mitchell, or just sitting around a campfire with friends, he found peace and purpose in nature. Josh had an unmatched love for hunting deer, turkey, ducks, birds, you name it. It wasn’t just about the hunt; it was about tradition, the stories, and the time spent with friends and family. Among the many meaningful relationships in Josh’s life, his friendship with Josh Parsons stood out as something rare and true. More than just a friend, Parsons was a steady presence in Josh’s life—closer than a brother and always by his side. Above all, Josh was a family man. He was the proud father of 3 wonderful children, Abbi, Ty, and Maddie Kate. Whether teaching them how to bait a hook, shoot, or simply appreciating the quiet beauty of the outdoors. He passed on more than just skills, he passed on a way of life. He leaves behind his loving wife, Erica Barr Lloyd; children, Abbigail “Abbi” Lloyd, Tytus “Ty” Lloyd and Layla Wall, and Madilyn “Maddie Kate” Lloyd; parents, Chris Howard and Vicki Sue Goodwin Lloyd; grandson, Daxen Lloyd; sister and brother-in-law, Jessica McMillan and Frank; maternal grandmother, Lou Hampton; paternal grandmother, Nancy Lloyd; as well as dogs, Maggie and Skeeter. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Edward Milligan; and paternal grandfather, Willie Lloyd. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until 11:00 AM, Friday, July 11, 2025, at Moody-Davis Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Friday, July 11, 2025, at 11:00 AM in the Moody-Davis Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Travis Lloyd officiating. Burial will follow in the Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. Moody-Davis Funeral Service, in Dobson, NC is serving the Lloyd family.
