Joshua "Josh" Lee Morgan passed away peacefully on August 1, 2024, at KU Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas at the age of 43. He was surrounded by his family and friends at the end of his courageous 2 year battle with brain cancer.
Josh is survived by his loving wife, Caitlin A. (Baker) Morgan, his mother Tammy Morgan, his brothers, Justin (Amy) Morgan, Jonathan (Kelsey) Morgan, James (Katelyn) Morgan, his nine much beloved nieces and nephews and maternal grandmother, Sue Kampman.
Josh is predeceased by his father, Kem Morgan, paternal grandparents, Jolly and Alene Morgan, and maternal grandfather, Larry Kampman.
Born on January 21, 1981, to Kem and Tammy Morgan and raised in Kearney, Missouri, Josh grew up in a loving and active family. The Morgan Family attended Northern Hills Baptist Church in Holt, Missouri, where his faith walk was nurtured from an early age. He graduated from Kearney High School in 1999 where he played baseball, wrestled, and even won a few spelling bees. Josh loved people and it was of great importance to him that everyone feel loved, included, and cared for.
Following his graduation, Josh went into the world to explore life and develop his chosen trade as an automotive technician. Josh attended Auto-Diesel College in Nashville, Tennessee, being certified as an auto-diesel technician. Following his graduation from college in 2001, Josh began his career with Schlumberger repairing and maintaining pump engines and equipment on oil rigs off the coast of southern Louisiana and living an exciting life as a young man.
In 2002, Josh returned to his roots and family in Kearney and was surrounded by wonderful mentors who supported him walking his path of faith as a Christian man. He grew in his faith while attending Excelsior Springs Baptist Church in Excelsior Springs, MO, and established a lifelong relationship with his spiritual mentors, Scott and Marsha Davis.
In 2009, Josh and Caitlin married, beginning an adventurous life together. They enjoyed spending time with a large cadre of loving friends and family, travel, music, camping, disc golf, and great food. Their greatest adventure was exploring and growing in their shared faith in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Josh and Caitlin were long-time members at what is now OneChurch in Liberty, Missouri, where Josh faithfully served that community as an elder and in other vital roles for many years.
In 2017 Josh and Caitlin co-founded KC Auto Solutions, a successful auto repair services company located in Independence, Missouri, where they greatly enjoyed working alongside Josh's brother, Jonathan, as the business grew. Josh and Caitlin especially loved and appreciated Jonathan for so faithfully standing shoulder to shoulder with them in the work of their business during the challenging times of Josh's illness.
The family takes great comfort in their faith that Josh's beautiful spirit continues and is now at rest in the presence of God the Father, through the grace given by His son, Christ Jesus, and rely now upon God's Holy Spirit for their own peace in the time ahead.
Visitation will be held on August 8, 2024 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at One Church, 940 Kent St., Liberty, MO 64068. A celebration of life will be held on August 9, 2024, at 10 a.m. at One Church, 940 Kent St., Liberty, MO 64068. A graveside service will be at Glenridge Cemetery, 1626-1666 Shepherd Road, Liberty, MO 64068, following the celebration of life service. Josh and I met by sheer randomness after a mutual friend and I realized we all played frisbee golf. Since then I grew to learn Josh was a multi-faceted being, devout in his spirituality, a business owner, loving husband, and generous friend. We took a couple trips out of town to visit new courses and have culinary experiences at various restaurants on the way. Josh was always full of razz and witty and knew how to zing you at the drop of a hat. I will miss the energy he brought to our group!
