Joshua David Wimmer, 32, of Newnan, known affectionately as Josh to his friends and family, died June 29, 2024.
Born on June 20, 1992, in Decatur, Georgia, and raised in Newnan since the age of 2. Josh's journey through life was one marked by an unquenchable spirit of adventure and a heart full of love. Josh's early working life saw him donning the hat of a skilled welder at a local body shop. He later worked as a Kitchen Manager for a beloved local restaurant. Yet, his entrepreneurial spirit was restless, and he was on the cusp of starting a microgreens business, a testament to his innovative vision and dedication to sustainable living. It was outside the confines of walls and workspaces that Josh truly thrived. He was in the midst of transforming a van into a mobile sanctuary, intent on exploring the vast tapestry of America's landscapes. The van life was more than a trend for Josh; it was the embodiment of freedom and the pursuit of happiness. Josh's love for nature was profound. He found solace in the embrace of the great outdoors, whether he was navigating the serene rivers with his kayak or simply basking in the tranquility of a forest. His adventurous soul was happiest when set against the backdrop of the natural world. To say that Josh was adventurous, loving, and creative would be an understatement. These words were the very essence of his being. As we reflect on the life of Joshua David Wimmer, let us carry forward the torch of his legacy. Let us live each day with the same zest and boundless curiosity that Josh did. His journey may have reached its sunset in Sharpsburg, Georgia, but the light of his spirit continues to illuminate the paths of those he touched. Josh's story is a reminder that life is not just to be lived-it's to be embraced with every fiber of our being.
Survivors include his parents, Tim and Robin Wimmer; brother and sister-in-law, Tyler Paul Wimmer and Darian Jackson-Wimmer; grandparents, David Eugene "Dave" Wimmer and Jacqueline sue "Jackie" Wimmer; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; and a countless number of friends.
