Jospeh "Carl" Sturm

Funeral Mass for Joseph "Carl" Sturm, 85, of Painesville, OH will be on Saturday, August 24, at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 8560 Mentor, Ave., Mentor, OH. Fr. Tom will officiate.
Carl peacefully passed away, Wednesday, June 26, 2024 in Painesville.
Born, January 3, 1939, Carl was a lifelong Lake County resident. Carl was a graduate of Willoughby North High School and then went on to serve his country in the US Army. It was during his service that he would meet his future wife, Nancy. Once married, he returned to Lake County where he built his life.
Carl was the owner of the successful Sturm's Meat Market located in Willoughby. In his second career, Carl was a successful car salesman. More than that, he was a successful human being. A friend to all, stranger to none. Carl had a magnetic, larger-than-life personality that drew people in. Always with a joke ready or a story to tell, he enjoyed entertaining and cooking for others, golfing, playing the piano or accordion (usually surrounded by a crowd). He was a boater who taught his family and countless others how to water ski. No matter where he went, he'd find someone he knew. Simply put; he was the life of the party.
Perhaps his greatest accomplishment was his beautiful family who have survived him to carry on his wonderful legacy. His beloved wife, Nancy (nee Hoven) Sturm. His sister, Susie Sturm. His children, Joseph, Richard (Diane), Jeffrey (Genell) and Michael Juno (Zachary). His treasured Grandchildren, Zackery (Jamie), Melanie (Noah), Briana, Isabella, Preston, Asher and Noah. A recently welcomed great grandchild, Zephyr.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Christine (nee Cergol) Sturm, a brother Jim and sister Carol Arnold (Marc).
