Obituary published on Legacy.com by Island Memorial Funeral Home on Nov. 19, 2024.
Josselin Pierre was a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, godfather and friend. Josselin was a man who loved unconditionally and was loved deeply in return. His presence was a gift to all who knew him, and his life was a beautiful reflection of generosity, kindness, and unwavering faith.
Josselin was a true man of God, a prayer warrior whose faith remained steadfast through every season of life. He found great joy in attending church services throughout the week and encouraging others in their spiritual journey. The battle with cancer never stopped him from taking leadership roles in the church. He was the head deacon at Shiloh for close to 10 years, a leader in the hospitality ministry, and a key advisor for the administrative committee. Josselin continued to put others before himself, offering words of comfort and hope to those facing similar struggles. His strength and faith inspired countless people, as he always had praises and thanksgiving on his lips, even in his weakest moments.
Josselin Pierre was born on December 6, 1959 in Cap-Haïtien, Haiti to Joseph and Denise Pierre. As one of ten siblings, he cherished his nine brothers and sisters and extended his love to his 18 nieces and nephews, who will always remember his wisdom, laughter, and the warmth of his embrace. He left behind his sisters Julie, Nicole and Jolicia, as well as his brothers Ebene, Elius, Rony, Garry and Maxon. He was predeceased by his brother Vilnoi.
Josselin shared a 30-year marriage with his devoted wife, Anna, and together, they raised two grown children, Jo-Anna and Daniel, who are their pride and joy. Josselin was given the opportunity to come to the United States with his family by his adopted mother Marie-Lou Cave. Where he was able to join his large extended family.
As a gifted cook, Josselin used his culinary background and talents to bring people together, offering nourishment not just for the body but also for the soul. In 2018, he founded L'hirondelle, which was the fulfillment of one of his dreams to have his own restaurant. His restaurant became a success in the community because he focused on protecting the people's health. He brought a unique touch to cooking, especially in his style of "Fish in a White Spicy Sauce" (Pwasson Gwo Sel). A refrain often repeated by most of his loyal customers was "No one else can cook like Josselin does." He was a man who would gladly give the shirt off his back to help someone in need, exemplifying selflessness in every aspect of his life.
Josselin's life was a testament to the power of faith, love, and perseverance. He leaves a legacy of compassion, humility, and unwavering devotion to God. While his absence will be deeply felt, his example will continue to guide and inspire all who were blessed to know him.
Josselin's light will shine forever in the hearts of those who loved him, reminding us to live with purpose and to cherish every moment.
In Lieu of flowers, the family would also greatly appreciate any form of donations made to
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. A cause and organization that was truly important Joselin.
