Josué "Josh" Rodríguez, 66, of Hamden, CT died peacefully on Thursday, January 9, 2025 in his home surrounded by his loving family after a hard fought battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of thirty years to Lillian Ortíz-Rodríguez, whom he loved more than life. Josh was born in New Haven, CT on November 13, 1958, a son of Margarita Rodríguez of New Haven and the late Cristino Rodríguez. Josh resided in New Haven for decades before moving to Hamden fifteen years ago.
In addition to his wife Lillian, Josh is survived by one son, Joshua "JJ" Rodríguez of Hamden, two daughters, Tara (Alex) Carmona of Boca Ratón, FL and Bianca Rodríguez of Berlin, CT, two grandchildren, Jordyn and Sienna Carmona of Boca Ratón, one brother, Caleb (Valerie) Rodríguez of West Haven, one sister, Millie (Mike) McFarland of New Haven, two sisters-in-law, Jennie Lee Mercado of West Haven and Alicia López of Lakeland, FL, a cousin whom he considered a brother, Juan Ocasio of Zephyrhills, FL, and a number of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Arturo Mercado.
Josh was a Senior Account Representative for Cornell Scott Hill Health Center for the past eighteen years, and a devoted member of Promise Land Church of God for over thirty years. Josh will be remembered for his work ethic and love for his family and God. Josh brought joy to all through his jovial spirit and inclination to make others laugh with clever one-liners. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, children, siblings and church friends. At family gatherings he could be found playing dominos, a tradition he took from his father and handed down to his children. Finally, Josh was known for being an avid NY Mets fan and UConn Husky basketball fan; he loved making it to live games.
Josh's family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, January 17th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Promise Land Church of God, 240 Burwell Road, West Haven. A funeral service will take place at the church on Saturday, January 18th at 9:00 a.m. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery, North Haven. The Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven has been entrusted with arrangements. washingtonmemorialfh.com
