Sarah Mastromarino Obituary

Sarah Trotta Mastromarino, 84, wife of the late Angelo & quot; Sonny & quot; Mastromarino, and mother of the late Joan Ellen Mastromarino, passed away suddenly on October 19, 2025. She was born on November 5, 1940, in Meriden, CT and is the daughter of the late Bernard and Frances Mencarini Trotta and daughter-in-law of the late Anthony and Rose Perrotti Mastromarino. She worked as a Registered Nurse at both Meriden Hospital and St Raphael's Hospital, as well as at several nursing homes and convalescent facilities throughout North Haven and Hamden. She was a resident of Woodbridge CT until 1974 and has since been a resident of North Haven, CT for the past 51 years, as well as a parishioner of Saint Barnabas Church. Her passion was her family, of which she was fiercely loyal, protective, and loving. Without question, her greatest source of pride, joy and inspiration were her two grandsons, Michael Angelo Mastromarino and Christopher Anthony Mastromarino. Despite being the primary caregiver for her husband Angelo following his stroke, she still found the time and energy to have frequent sleepovers and regularly packed them all up for trips to the park for bike rides, rollerblading, and mini golf. She was by far their greatest fan and most loyal supporter throughout their respective youth and High School sports years for both baseball and football. Everyone knew when she arrived, as she pulled into the parking lot in the jet black 1988 Lincoln Town Car with wire wheels and white wall tires. The frequent calls, visits, and time spent with her grandsons gave her all the energy and inspiration she needed, despite her own health challenges in her later years. She was also a devout fan of the New York Yankees and rarely ever missed a game on the radio. Her other passions included listening to music, cooking, baking, gardening, collecting antique dolls, music boxes, and curios. She is survived by her beloved son Anthony Michael Mastromarino, her brother Carmine Trotta and his wife Marcia, her sister-in-law Margaret Giannone and her husband Joseph, her sister-in-law Rosemary Zehntner and her husband Roger, and her sister-in-law Diana Mastromarino. She is predeceased by her brother-in-law Pasquale "Nicky / Gigi" Mastromarino. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
