Joy married Clyde John Bruce, and they shared years of marriage together before Clyde passed away on December 30, 1994.

Joy and Clyde owned and operated B & B Mfg. Co. and G & J Engraving Inc. for many years. Joy enjoyed spending time with family, needle point, civil war history, genealogy and bird watching. She was always up for an adventure!

Survivors include her daughter, Erin (Fred) VanderMaas; son, Howard Bruce; grandchildren, Jazmine and Taya Moore; and her sister, Sandy (Thorne) Moerman.

Joy was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde; her parents, Kenneth and Marjorie Thorne; her in-laws, Howard and Gertrude Bruce; her brother, Fred Thorne; and her sister, Donna (Thorne) Scott.

Per Joy's wishes cremation has taken place and no formal services will be held at this time. Her remains will be buried in the spring at Pinegrove Cemetery in Alpine Township with a celebration of life following.
