Joy Hughlett Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Anderson Funeral Home & Cremation Service on Aug. 26, 2025.

Age 55. Passed away August 26, 2025 surrounded by her daughters after a courageous battle with cancer. Preceded in death by her father Roger Quant. Survived by her mother Kay Quant, daughters Brianna Quant, Lyanna Mitchell (Antonio) and Tatianna Autrey (Domonique), 6 grandchildren; Shaniya Quant-Revels, Cheyenne Drew-Quant, Dedray Mitchell, Aria Mitchell, Mekhi Autrey and Khalil Autrey, 4 siblings; Shawn (Elizabeth) Quant, Heidi (Cameron) McCall, Andrea (Mike) Knox, Amy (Nathan) Alpert, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and other close loved ones.

Joy was born in St. Paul, MN on July 30, 1970, the first of five children. She attended North High School in Minneapolis as a student in the Arts Magnet. During her teen years she worked as a day camp counselor with her father at Hospitality House. During these years she had her first daughter, Brianna. Upon graduation she got married and had her other two daughters Lyanna and Tatianna and received an Association of Arts from St. Marys University. She spent nearly 30 years working at Ameriprise Financial.

Her greatest joys were her children and grandchildren. Her best memories are those spent with them going to Wisconsin Dells, concerts, visiting in other states, cooking for them and supporting their dreams. She relished family get togethers and had the opportunity to be celebrated on her 55th birthday by visiting New Orleans with her 3 daughters and 3 sisters, a memory they will cherish forever.

Joy also loved collecting art, began venturing into gardening, looked forward to singing in the gospel choir and worship teams and enjoyed watching competition shows. She looked forward to her Big Brother episodes and discussing the events of each week.

Her life was full of love for her family, friends and those she was able to serve. She found her strength, hope and foundation in Christ and no one who had the honor of meeting and getting to know her will ever forget her kind, caring, warm demeanor. Her name fit her perfectly, as she touched many lives with the joy and generosity she possessed.

A celebration of life will be held on September 27, 2025 at 1:30pm at First Covenant Church of St. Paul 1280 Arcade Street, Saint Paul, MN 55106 with a visitation beginning at 12:30pm.

Memorials may be directed to the family or First Covenant Church of St. Paul.

I have spent the last 8 years working with Joy and she was truly a wonderful member of our team and a dear friend! She lived up to her name and shared her joy and pride in her daughters and grandchildren. We will miss her every day as part of our "Breakfast Club 2.0" and miss her smile and laugh. We miss you Joy! - Gina
