Joy Imade Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Circle of Life Funeral Home on Feb. 23, 2025.
It is with profound sadness and boundless admiration that we share the passing of Joy Imade, a woman of unparalleled love, generosity, and spirit. Born in Benin City, Edo, Nigeria, on December 31, 1944, Joy was a beacon of compassion and empathy throughout her 80 years. She was a woman of unwavering integrity, always putting the needs of others before her own. Joy's selflessness was a testament to her character, reminding us of an apt saying, "A kind gesture can reach a wound that only compassion can heal."
Joy's journey in life led her from her beloved homeland of Nigeria to Stratford, New Jersey, where she continued to touch lives with her immense kindness. Her initial venture was Gramus Restaurant in Benin City in the '80s, where she cooked with love, feeding not just the body, but the soul. Later, in America, Joy embarked on a fulfilling career as a home health aide, embodying the virtues of care and compassion in every interaction. Her laughter was infectious, her generosity, endless, and her spirit, indomitable.
However, what mattered most to Joy was her family. As the matriarch, Joy was the epitome of strength, wisdom, and love. She cherished her daughter, Lilian Nwaeze, and her two grandchildren, Chichi and Okey, pouring her love into their lives. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ehigiamusoe Philip and Ibizugbe Ayo but leaves behind a legacy of love and wisdom that will continue to resonate in the hearts of her family and all who knew her.
In remembering Joy, we celebrate not just her life, but the profound impact she made on ours. Her legacy is a testament to a life well-lived, filled with love, generosity, and compassion. We would like to encourage anyone who was touched by Joy's extraordinary life to share their memories and upload photos to the memorial page. It is through these shared stories and images that we can keep Joy's generous spirit alive and honor the incredible woman she was.
