Joy L. Rothfuss

WATERLOO/GENEVA – Joy L. Rothfuss, 67, of the Waterloo and Geneva area, passed away Monday (December 2, 2024) at Geneva Living Center – North.

In keeping with Joy's wishes, there will be no calling hours. The memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday (December 14) at Coe-Genung Funeral Home, 46 W. Main St., Waterloo, N.Y. Mark Seeber, pastor of the Geneva Christian Fellowship, will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Waterloo, N.Y.

Joy was born August 30, 1957, in Seneca Falls, N.Y., the daughter of Edwin G. and Jean Crouch Nelson. She was a 1975 graduate of Waterloo Central High School. Joy was employed with the Swartley family business, as well as, the Ye Olde Woode Shoppe owned by the Nelson family. She was employed in other area businesses working in secretarial positions and food service. Joy's most recent employment was with Lifetime Care.

She is survived by her son; Jason (Luisa) Swartley of Geneva, N.Y., daughter; Jamie (John) Mesmer of Geneva, N.Y., grandchildren; Alexander John Mesmer, Bella, Olivia, Liam and Ethan Swartley, mother; Jean Nelson of Waterloo, N.Y., sisters; Alyce (Gary) Foster of Silver Springs, Md. and Ruth (Jerry) Hayward of Waterloo, N.Y., brother Paul (Amy Jo) Nelson of Romulus, N.Y., uncle; Paul Crouch of Phelps, N.Y., and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Joy was predeceased by her father; Edwin G. Nelson, brother; Roger and sister-in-law Sandy Nelson.
