Joy Marie Shields

Joy Marie Shields, 93, of Glen Mills passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, October 27, 2025. Born in Ridley Township, she was a 1950 graduate of Ridley Twp. High School where she was the lead actress in all the school plays.
Joy's name exemplified her character; her amiable personality was contagious. She loved people, laughter, and time spent with friends and family. She was an avid reader, a talented artist, and loved word puzzles and game shows. Joy spent her summers at her beach house in North Wildwood. She was a dedicated parishioner of St. Cornelius Church in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania.
She is preceded in death by her parents: James Vincenzo and Mary (DiMatteo) and her late husband John J. Shields who passed in 2006. Additionally, she is preceded in death by two siblings: Paul DiMatteo and Lena McNamara.
She is survived by her beloved children: Kevin (Rose) Shields, John (Reenie) Shields, and Maureen Shields, four grandchildren: John, Kaitlyn, Kevin, and Sara, and five great-grandchildren: Luna, Sophia Joy, Kevin (K.J), Harlan, and Sailor Maria. Joy is also survived by her sister Maryanne Tiburzi and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation: Wednesday, November 5, 2025, from 9:15 AM to 10:15 AM at St. Cornelius Church, 160 Ridge Road, Chadds Ford, PA 19317.
Funeral Mass: Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at 10:30 AM at St. Cornelius Church, 160 Ridge Road, Chadds Ford, PA 19317.
Burial: SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, Pennsylvania.
