Joy Isobel (Gallacher) Warwick, age 88, of Branson, Missouri, passed away November 23, 2025, at her home with family nearby. She entered this life April 17, 1937, the daughter of Daniel and Beryl (Badham) Gallacher in Chicago, Illinois. Joy was the oldest of three children, having two brothers, David and Paul. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and both of her brothers.
Joy was joined in marriage to David Nelson on June 15, 1957, and they enjoyed each other's company for over 66 years.
Together they had two children, their daughter, Dori and son, Doug. Joy stayed home to raise her children during their younger years, and once they were in junior high, she began working as a secretary for a company close to their home in Burbank, Illinois. When her husband took a new job at the University of Michigan, they relocated from Chicago to the small town of Pinckney, where they lived on a beautiful, small lake. Joy took a secretarial position at the University of Michigan for several years and then retired. But retirement didn't last long, as she took a position as a part-time secretary at their local church. About 15 years ago, Joy and David were wooed to Branson, Missouri by Dori and her family, promising shorter and warmer winters, as well as more time with family.
Joy loved her family deeply. She is survived by her daughter, Dori Rapinchuk and son-in-law, Mark Rapinchuk of Branson, Missouri; her son, Douglas Warwick and partner, Patsy Skwirsk of Pinckney, Michigan; four grandsons: Kyle Rapinchuk, Brendon Rapinchuk, Derek Joseph, and Justin Warwick; and five great-grandchildren: Karis, Anastacia, Aviel Rapinchuk, Harrison, and Grayson Warwick.
Joy loved the Lord Jesus Christ, and her life was a daily testimony to this truth. She was a good and faithful servant throughout her many years.
The memories and moments created throughout Joy's life will be treasured by all who knew and loved her.
A memorial service has not yet been scheduled. Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Cremations of the Ozarks.
