Joy Jean Witteried, 85, passed away peacefully in her home on Dec. 2, 2024, in Vincennes.
Joy was born Feb. 25, 1939, at home in Iona, Indiana, the daughter of Ethel Vantlin. She attended school and graduated in Monroe City. After completing training at Vincennes University and Good Samaritan hospital Joy enjoyed a career of 42 years as a surgical technician at Good Samaritan.
She married Clem Witteried in 1992 and he preceded her in death in 2002. Joy's sister, Donna Strahle, died in 2019.
A member of First Christian Church, Vincennes, Joy had a strong faith. She enjoyed her life at home, always surrounded by her beloved cats, and probably watching Perry Mason! Having fun is how Joy often would describe herself.
Survivors include her sister, Beatrice Biddle of Seelyville; nephews and nieces, Mark and Mike Biddle, Jim and Brook Strahle, Tim Strahle, Holly (Strahle) and Dennis Graber; as well as great nieces and nephews, Dylan, Karlee, Matt, and Jackson. And finally, her 4 cats who will be going to new homes.
Friends may visit with Joy's family and home caregivers from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m., with funeral service to follow this Saturday at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home, 524 Broadway Street.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Vincennes Pet Port or the Knox County Humane Society.
