Joyce Bolenbaugh Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lauer Family Funeral Home Affordable Cremation Solutions Jackson - Jackson on Dec. 3, 2025.
Joyce "Joycie" Marlene Bolenbaugh, age 92, passed away on November 20, 2025, at Jackson County Medical Care Facility.
Joyce was born on April 8, 1933, in Jackson, Michigan, to her parents, Cleon and Grace Rutan. She married the love of her life, Dean Bolenbaugh, and together they shared 35 wonderful years and raised four children.
Over the years, Joyce worked for Consumers Energy, The University of Texas, and also at the Piggly Wiggly in Georgetown, Texas.
Joyce lived in Jackson, Addison, and throughout the surrounding areas, including Northern Michigan in Pelston near Carp Lake. She also spent part of her life in Tennessee and Texas. She enjoyed horseback riding, tap dancing, and cooking. She also absolutely loved to iron; saying it was her therapy, and she ironed everything... She enjoyed having long chats and was known as the "queen of one-liners."
She is survived by her children, Joni (Kevin) Marcum, Jo Ellen Bolenbaugh, Jane (Dennis) Roetman, and Brian (Holly) Bolenbaugh; grandchildren, Janay, Janelle, Joy, Jon, Andrea, Billy, and Jackie; along with nine great-grandchildren; her brother, Doug (Diane) Rutan; and her special friends, Dixie Armstrong and Willa Stewart.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dean Bolenbaugh; her parents; and her dear friend, Lorraine Webb; along with her beloved dog, Butchie.
Honoring her wishes, cremation has taken place. She will be laid to rest in the spring of 2026 at Aldrich Cemetery in Somerset Township.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Jackson County Department on Aging and the Jackson County Medical Care Facility for their kindness and exceptional care. Along with the kindness extended by her wonderful neighbors, Ian and Belle.
