Bernard Van Fleet Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lauer Family Funeral Home Affordable Cremation Solutions Jackson - Jackson on Mar. 11, 2026.
Bernard "Joe" Van Fleet, age 80, of Rives Junction, passed away on March 4, 2026. He was born on January 4, 1946, in Jackson, Michigan to his parents, Alford and Hazel Van Fleet.

Joe was a dedicated worker who spent over 20 years as a machine operator at Clark Equipment. Outside of work, he was known as a true handyman who could fix just about anything. Family and friends often turned to him when something needed repairing, and he was always willing to lend a helping hand.

Joe was a laid-back man who loved his family deeply and cherished the time he spent with them. He was loved by many and will be remembered for his kind heart, dependable nature, and the quiet way he was always there when someone needed him.

He is survived by his children, Tammy Van Fleet and Joseph Van Fleet; grandchildren, Jayme Fulmerhouser (Gary Wilson), Dillon Cook, Javen Van Fleet, and Alex Van Fleet; great-grandchildren, Damian Chinaware, Miya Walker, Cameran Wilson, and Konner Wilson; and brother, Dennis (Tara) Van Fleet.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Cynthia Van Fleet; grandson, James Fulmerhouser; and sisters, Carol Hollenbaugh, Lisa Fisher, Shirley Van Fleet, and Karen Van Fleet.

Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held at a later date, with the time and location to be announced.
