John McGill Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lauer Family Funeral Home Affordable Cremation Solutions Jackson - Jackson on Mar. 8, 2026.
John Jerome McGill III, born July 29, 1994, passed away unexpectedly on March 4, 2026, leaving behind a family who loved him deeply and will miss him dearly.

John grew up in Jackson, Michigan and was a graduate of Jackson High School. John was known for his quiet but loyal personality. Growing up the only brother among sisters, he was deeply dedicated to his family and protective of those he loved.

John worked at Motor City Solutions in Taylor, Michigan and took pride in his work there. He had a passion for all things automotive especially NASCAR and Dale Earnhardt. He enjoyed spending time in his garage with his dog Marshall and his daughter Eloise, fixing and working on cars just as his father taught him.

Outside of work, John shared a close bond with his friends Joe and Austin, whose friendship meant a great deal to him. Their relationship was one of brotherhood and loyalty that John valued deeply.

Above all else, John was proud to be a father to his daughter, Eloise. Being her dad was one of the most important parts of John's life and his love for her was undeniable. The best part of his day was dressing themselves in matching outfits and going for rides in her electric Ford Bronco.

John was preceded in death by his grandparents, John McGill I, Sandra McGill, Paul Malec, and Carol Malec; and his uncles Larry Malec and Pete Malec.

He is survived by his father, John McGill II; his mother and stepfather, Annamarie and Terry Wegrzyn; and his sisters Meaghan Vogt (Scott), Kelli Dowdy (Keith), his twin sister Amelia LeTarte (Jordan), and Sonny McGill.

He is also survived by his step-siblings, Colin Wegrzyn (Alix), Christopher Wegrzyn (Hope), and Chloe Davis (Keifer).

John was a proud uncle to many nieces and nephews including Rylee and Sutton Dowdy; Emarie and Jackson LeTarte; Charlie and Baylor Wegrzyn; Madden Davis, and Ma'sohn McCranie.

He leaves behind many extended family members, friends, and coworkers who will forever remember his loyalty, humor, and the love he had for those closest to him. Most importantly, John leaves behind his beloved daughter, Eloise McGill, who was the light of his life and whom he shared with her mother, Keanna. He also leaves behind his Boxer dog, Marshall, who was his best friend.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the GoFundMe created to support John's daughter, Eloise, who meant the world to him. To honor John's greatest legend, his celebration of life will be held on Friday, April 24, 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a time for sharing stories and memories from from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Jackson County Sportsman's Club - 500 Mantle Ave Jackson, MI 49202.
