Betty Brasfield Chandler Obituary

Visit the Shackelford Funeral Directors of Savannah website to view the full obituary.
Our beautiful, young-at-heart Betty Joyce Chandler, formerly of Savannah, Tennessee, and a resident of Beech Bluff, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, just six days before her 81st birthday. Joyce was born on October 14, 1944, in Wayne County, Tennessee.
If you knew Joyce, you knew she was a woman who was always dressed up and ready to enjoy life. Her vibrant energy, kindness, and infectious sense of humor were her trademarks, and her spirit was truly ageless.
Joyce spent her career nourishing others in the Dietary Department at Hardin County General, where her warm smile made every day brighter for patients and staff alike. Her leadership extended into her community life, where she was a devoted member of the Ladies Auxiliary, serving as President in Corinth, MS, and Vice President in Jackson, TN. She was even recognized as President of the Year-a testament to her dedication.
Her life was deeply enriched by her close friend and treasured dance partner, Fred Mullins of Bethel Springs. Her greatest joys were simple and spirited: she loved to dance, and she loved working outside. Neighbors often stopped to compliment her beautiful yard, which was always a reflection of the pride and care she put into everything she touched.
Joyce was the devoted wife of the late Leroy Chandler and the former spouse of Paul Wayne Brasfield, the loving father of her children. She was preceded in death by her parents, Audrey Cummings Brown and Jamie Brown, and her sisters, Hazel Brown Cook and Teresa Brown.
She is lovingly remembered and survived by her devoted daughters, Janie Brasfield of Savannah, TN, and Bobbie Doran and her husband, Michael Doran of Beech Bluff, TN. She also embraced Dennis Latham, who was cherished and loved as a son. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her cherished grandchildren: Amanda Michelle Stutts great grandson Beckham Rhy Stutts and Rusty Michael Doran.
She is also survived by her brother, James Russell Brown, of Savannah, TN and nephews Daniel Brown and Christopher Brown.
