Joyce C. Chromeck passed away on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, in Newtown, PA, at the age of 90. Born on March 25, 1935, in Doylestown, PA, Joyce grew up amidst the scenic farmlands of Solebury, where she developed a deep appreciation for nature and community. She was a proud graduate of New Hope Solebury High School, where she not only excelled academically but also showcased her athletic talents as a member of the field hockey team.
For fifty-four years, Joyce called Delaware Township, NJ her home. Her dedicated career as a cafeteria manager at Hunterdon Central High School allowed her to nourish and support countless students. Joyce was also an avid member of the Hunterdon County 4H, where she inspired younger generations to engage with agriculture and develop their own interests and skills. Joyce had many talents including cooking, baking, sewing, gardening and was a avid reader.
Joyce is survived by her loving daughters, Beverly Kershaw and her husband, William of Lambertville, NJ, and Christine Durant of Stockton, NJ who cherish her memory and the lessons she imparted throughout her life. She joins her parents, Samuel E. Stoop (father), Henrietta M. Bradfield (mother) and beloved husband, William Joseph Chromeck, who predeceased her, along with her siblings – Samuel Stoop, Jr. (brother), Kenneth Stoop (brother), and Linda Manners (sister).
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at 9:30 AM in the Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown, PA, under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
