Janice Beck Obituary
She was born June 25, 1950, in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, to Warren and Roberta Knechel.
Janice graduated from New Hope-Solebury High School in New Hope, PA. She attended Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio; Rider University; the College of New Jersey; and graduated from Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma, with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Music.
Janice was a devoted and loving wife to her husband, Russell Beck, with whom she shared 55 years of marriage. She was also a loving supporter of her son, Ryan Beck, cherishing the 49 years they shared. Janice took great pride in her brother, W. Robert Knechel, and his family.
Throughout her life, Janice served as an organist, hand bells and choir director at churches and chapels in New Jersey, Oklahoma, Hawaii, and finally in the CSRA, where she served at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Saint Bartholomew's Episcopal Church and later at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church. Prior to health starting to decline, she continued sharing her love for music as a choir member at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection.
Janice was a beloved wife, mother, sister, and aunt, whose devotion to her family was evident in all she did. She was preceded in death by her parents, Warren and Roberta Knechel. She is survived by her husband, Russell Beck; son, Ryan Beck; brother, W. Robert Knechel (Anna Balkova); nephew, Andrew Knechel; and nieces, Abigail Drum and Martina Knechel.
A funeral service is planned at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection on Thursday, February 5, 2026. Time will be confirmed at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that any gifts or donations be given to the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in honor of Mrs. Janice Beck.

Music was the platform for our friendship, as Janice was the Organist/Choir Director at Holy Trinity Lutheran in North Augusta. She accepted the position after I "retired". The music program expanded under her direction to include a handbell choir and a junior choir. She sought out the musical talents of church members to participate in special services. There's so much I want to say about Janice and what an inspiration she was to me - I think she knows that. I will be at the service, Russell and Ryan, to honor her, to hear other accolades, and give you lots of hugs. She was a special friend.

Handbells introduced me to Janice. She was working with a handbell choir, as well as an organist and choir director at Holy Trinity Lutheran. I was working with a bell choir at Resurrection Lutheran. Our choirs held a joint event. After Janice retired from a regular job as organist she substituted at various churches. Whenever possible she sang in the choir at Resurrection. We sat together in the choir and I always enjoyed her companionship.
