Joyce M. Clark, 93, of
Huntsville, AL, went to her eternal Heavenly home on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, filled with love for her Savior, Jesus Christ. Joyce is survived by her loving husband, Bill Clark; son, Dr. Stephen Clark (Dr. Lacey Clark); grandchildren, Christian, Anna Katherine, and Allie Clark, all of Huntsville. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, George and Edith Moore; brother, Raymond Moore, and sister, Jeanne Evans, of California.
Joyce was born in
Glendale, CA and graduated from San Dieguito High School in
Encinitas, CA in 1950, the same year she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior. In 1955, she received a BA degree in Education from Westmont College in
Santa Barbara, CA, and began teaching in the Ventura City School District. In 1957, Joyce was called to Seoul, Korea as a missionary for five years with The Evangelical Alliance Mission to teach the children of missionary, military and diplomat parents.
In 1962, Joyce enrolled at San Diego State College where she earned an MA degree in Education/Curriculum Development n 1969. During these 7 years, she taught in San Diego City Schools and at Culter Academy in Los Angeles. She was appointed Principal of Culter Elementary School. Later, she started the Association for Bible Curriculum Development and taught this curriculum in Chrisitan schools in the Los Angeles area. She also served on the State Board of the California Association of Christian Schools.
In 1966, she met Bill Clark, an aerospace engineer from Auburn, and they married in Hollywood in 1968. Her next mission was not South Korea, but to go in 1970 to Alabama where Bill was assigned to the Skylab project with NASA.
Joyce was an active member of the duMidi Club, served as 1st Vice-President and worked with the Birthday Wish program for foster children.
Joyce and Bill served in the Student Ministry at Calvary Bible Church and Whitesburg Baptist Church. At WBC, Joyce taught Sunday School and was a member of the School Task Force to determine the feasibility of starting a Chrisitan school. Whitesburg Christian Academy started in 1999 and in 2000, Joyce was asked to be the first Principal. She accepted and was grateful to have been part of the early development and administration of the details that it took to bring Whitesburg Christian Academy into existence. She was pleased that her three grandchildren have been students of this school. Joyce said that when God needs another teacher in Heaven, she would love to apply.
Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 17, 2026, at Whitesburg Baptist Church South Campus Chapel, 7300 Whitesburg Drive. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
