Joyce Cross Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hutchens-Stygar Funeral & Cremation Center & Confluence Center on Jan. 3, 2024.
Joyce L. Cross entered eternal rest on January 2, 2024 at the age of 97. Loving mother-in-law to Jeff (Bonnie) Droege; devoted grandmother to Diana Droege, and Daniel (Dawn) Droege; proud great-grandmother of Chandler Lewis, Trey Ferguson, Dakota Jines, and Malcolm Droege; loving cousin, aunt, and friend to many.
Joyce is preceded in death by her parents Leslie and Lucy Bergmeier, her husband James Cross, her daughters Judy Droege and Linda Cross, as well as her brother Paul Bergmeier.
Joyce cherished her close-knit family and treasured the moments spent with them. She was a devout Christian, she lived her life with faith and compassion. She spread her love of Christ through singing in her church choir and playing the piano/organ. Joyce was a wonderful friend to many. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church (2701 Muegge Road Saint Charles MO, 63303)

Robert Knipp

February 17, 2024

Joyce was a wonderful example of what a Christian should be. Joyce and my Dad, Bill Knipp, were childhood friends as their parents were close church friends. They remained friends until my Dad passed on in 2009. For many, many years, Joyce served the Lord working in various positions in the churches she attended. As the obit mentioned, she played the piano and the organ for services and I even recall she was the Treasurer at one church. The best thing about Joyce was she was an extremely nice and compassionate lady...very kind and happy...even as she began having health issues later in life. In addition, she was also a dedicated caregiver and supporter of her various family members...and to my recollection, she never complained about the challenges she faced. I have no doubt that Joyce's soul is at peace in her Lord and Savior's arms in heaven.
