Joyce Ann Denton, 86, of Sellersburg, Indiana, passed away on Monday, August 26, 2024. Joyce, affectionately known as Lucy, leaves behind a legacy rich in creativity and compassion, intertwined with her passion for design and a profound love for her family and friends.
For 55 years, Joyce dedicated her talents as an interior designer at Hubbuch & Co. in Louisville, where her keen eye for detail transformed countless spaces, from large banks to homes, into warm and welcoming environments.
Joyce was far more than her professional accomplishments. She was a beloved member of her community, actively involved with organizations that brought people together, including the Moose Lodge and the American Legion in Sellersburg, as well as the VFW in Jeffersonville. Each gathering echoed with her laughter and warmth, as she cherished every moment spent with those around her. She was always a gracious hostess, making sure everyone who came into her home was well cared for!
A woman full of life and energy, Lucy found joy in staying active; she loved walking, horseback riding, and participating in Jazzercize, embracing the rhythm of her strong, spirited nature, yet nothing matched the affection she had for her family. Time spent with loved ones was her most treasured pursuit, and her fondness extended to a very special companion, her cat, Oscar, who brought her much joy and companionship.
She was born on February 21, 1938 in Cub Run, Kentucky to the late Jeff Logsdon and Blanche (Jones) Jaggers. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her step-father, Ernest Jaggers; husband, Edward Denton; siblings, Stanley Logsdon, Tilford "Tip" Logsdon, Duvall Logsdon, Havard Logsdon, Ida Robinson, Ada Wassney, and Lois Logsdon.
Joyce is survived by her children, Bill Sommerville, Lynda Benningfield, Kara (Tim) Schnaus; grandchildren, John Duke (Lauren) Benningfield, Sara (Michael) Stiles, Summer (Drew) Smith, Derek (Kayan) Schnaus, Zachary Schnaus, and Ava Schnaus; and 16 great-grandchildren.
