Joyce Corrynne Galloway, age 85, of Floydada, passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2026. Memorial Service will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 31, 2026 at the First Baptist Church Parlor with Mark Snowden officiating. Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m., Friday, January 30, 2026 at Moore-Rose Funeral Home in Floydada. Arrangements are under the personal care of Moore-Rose Funeral Home of Floydada.
Corrynne was born on a snowy day on April 23, 1940 at the family home in
Floydada, Texas. After graduating high school she attended Hardin Simmon University in Abilene, Texas. It was then that she decided to become an elementary school teacher. After she graduated in 1962, she taught in Lubbock, Texas, fifth and sixth grade. She then moved to Arlington, Texas and taught the fifth grade. Love of the books and reading was always a high priority for her students and self, for this reason, she attended Texas Womens University and received her master's degree in library science. In two of the schools, she taught in Roguemore and Corey, she started the elementary school library programs. Corrynne served in many organizations.
She was a life member of Texas State Teachers Association. She was a Tarrant County Libarian President. She loved children and her job of encouraging Students to strive to become lifelong readers was her goal. Her family, fellow workers and friends say she was a person of faith, she was a person who would stick with you through thick and thin. She made things better.
Corrynne was a member of First Baptist Church of Arlington, Texas where she sang in the choir and was a greeter. She loved to travel with friends and family in many parts of the world. In her traveling, she visited writers of children books and invited them to come to Arlington. Corrynne was a loving daughter who cared for her elderly parents, a good sister and friend. A great "Aunt Boo" to her nieces and nephews. Corrynne was a loving Christian example to her family and friends.
Corrynne is preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Tinnie Galloway and sisters Barbara Gail Galloway; brother-in-law, Dr Ben Ogletree; niece, Suzy Galloway.
She is survived by her brother, Doug Galloway and wife Elaine of Floydada; sisters, Bennie Darlene Ogletree of Deatsville, Alabama, Cindy Tharp and husband Mark of Canyon, Texas; nieces and nephews; Guy Galloway of Crosbyton, Texas, Rusty Galloway and wife D'Nae Galloway of Clovis, New Mexico, Robin Galloway of Plainview, Texas, Marshall Tharp and wife Sarah of San Angelo, Texas. Blake Ogletree of Clinton, Mississippi, Dr. Brittany Larkin and her husband Jonathon of Deatsville, Alabama. Corrynne is also survived by two aunts, Jean Logan of Weatherford, Texas and Patricia Galloway of Idalou, Texas. She is also survived by great nieces and nephews.
