Joyce A. Goddard, 85, of Orange, Texas, passed away on October 30, 2025.
Born in Jacksonville, Florida, on September 19,1940, she was the daughter of Owen Curtis Acosta and Susie Bell Kelly. Joyce was a homemaker at heart. She worked alongside John Sr., running their rental business for over 20 years, traveled to beautiful destinations in the states and across Europe. Managed to get away often to spend precious time with her twin sister in Mississippi, at the Casinos. She loved and cherished her family, had a smile that could light up a room, and will be missed by many. Especially those who lovingly referred to her as Mema. She is with our Lord and Savior, and her beloved “Johnny”, celebrating a life well lived.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Richard Goddard Sr.; daughter, Kimberly Sue Goddard; brother, Jerry Acosta; stepbrothers, Donald Remy, and Ray Remy; sister-in-law, Carolyn June Kent; brother-in-law, James Edward Kent, Sr.; brother-in-law, Robert Allen Goddard, Jr. She is survived by her children, Carolyn Joyce Fontenot and husband, Larry, John Richard Goddard, Jr. and wife, Sharon, all of Orange, TX; grandchildren, Rachel Elizabeth Fontenot, Kimberly Nicole Goddard, and John Richard Goddard, III, all of Orange, TX; sister, Joan Brooks of Valdosta; sister-in-law Gelana Goddard of Valdosta; and nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Carson McLaneFuneral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00 noon until 2:00 pm. There will be a private interment at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. A celebration of life will be held later in Orange, TX.
Carson McLane Funeral Home has been entrusted to care for the Goddard family.
