Aunt Joyce was a very caring Aunt who was a fun loving person and had a big heart! My most memorable times with her were spending time on the holidays, playing uno, and the beach trips, as she loved the beach. I know Aunt Joyce is in a happy place now, God Bless Her and Rest in Peace.

Joyce "Cookie" was a wonderful neighbor when I was a resident of Colonial Beach. She was a friend of many people and well liked and will be missed. My prayers and condolences to the family and especially her care giver Henry.

I've known Joyce since the early 1970's. Then, as always, Joyce could light up the room with her mega-watt smile, and seemingly endless energy. She had a heart of gold. Shine on, Coz.

Some of my favorite childhood memories involve going to the farm with dad and visiting Al and Joyce and all the barn kittens. Joyce was always so sweet, and a dear friend of my parents. My condolences to her family, sending you strength.

My long time friend Joyce was loved by all who knew her. I don't even remember anymore exactly how we met, could have been the pony ring in Arlandria or the pool in the village, but it has been a lasting friendship ever since. My thoughts and prayers are with her family, and her friends. I have wonderful memories of her though the years and will always treasure them. To the Hawald family I will see you this week, much love. Cat

I have known Joyce and her family for most of my life. Spending summers at Warwick pool, dances at the clubhouse, just walking around our small neighborhood of Warwick Village. I always felt like Joyce was my little sister. as well as a very dear friend. Our friendship spanned over many years and I will miss her dearly. Her smile could light up a room, and those dimples! Even through her pain she would try to keep on smiling, and I am confident that she is smiling down on all of us who love her. Rest in peace my dear friend. Love, Diane

I am going to miss Joyce (Cookie) my friend and former neighbor. We spent so many beautiful times together sharing stories and helping each other when we lived near by. Especially fond of sharing campfires with our mutual friends and her seeing her lovely smile on sunny mornings at the beach. She may well be remembered and admired for her tenacity to endure and do so much for her friends and her animals even in difficult times. She is a dear angel now. May God Bless her and keep her safe in her new home.

I have been communicating with Joyce by phone off and on for the last few years. Unfortunately, we would never meet again after all those childhood years of being friends, my other sweet childhood friend, Diane Freear Smith, who also enjoyed the special friendship with Joyce, but also went on to GW Highschool with Joyce . and they continued to be good friends; sorry I missed that. I went to Catholic school, and was so sorry to lose that connection with Joyce, and with Diane. I have so many sweet memories about our friendship; even at the young age, I have never forgotten that special bond...Kind felt like Joyce, Diane, and I were the, I don't know, maybe the Bette, Goldie, and Diane Keaton. Fond, and loving memories of all of us and our young experiences together are in my mind, and I thank God for that.. God bless Joyce, her family and God help us all to remember her special sweetness. I do, even as young childhood friend, R. I. P. my friend.

My husband, Wayne, and I would like to extend to Joyce's brothers and sister our deepest sympathies. We have known Joyce for almost 20 years--my cousin, Al Berryman, ran the farm behind my mother's home (Olivia Johnson) and we knew her through Al. We found her to be a happy and very caring person, who loved her animals and my mother. We are deeply saddened by her death at such a young age. May God be with all of her family. Love, Carolyn & Wayne Prillaman
