Joyce Jacob Henley, 83, wife of 46 years to Steven Forest Henley, died on Tuesday, November 5, 2024. Born in Adrian, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late Charles A. Hamilton and Dorothy Brownell Jacob Hamilton and grandmother to the late Bryon Paul Haas. Joyce wore many hats professionally during her working career, as well as having a few hobbies mixed in throughout, from a Restaurant Owner, shipping agent for Kroger Company and a Newspaper Type Setter, maker and designer of Household Crafts, she created audio books at the Athens Learning Center, she dealt in antiques, a kitchen crew member for weekly church suppers at Alps Road Presbyterian Church. Joyce was an avid outdoor explorer, cyclist and gardener. She enjoyed traveling in-country and abroad. Joyce was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. Survivors include her husband, Steve, three children: Lorna Lee Barrett, Albert Graham Leggat, Michael John Leggat (wife, Beth). Two sisters: Kathryn Ann (Richard) Pfeiffle and Shirley Fuller and brother, William Hamilton. Grandchildren: Christopher Lee (Autumn) Leggat and Daniel Eugene (Summer) Leggat. Great-grandchildren: Nolan and Harrison Leggat. A memorial Celebration of Life service for Joyce will be held Saturday, 16 November 2024 from 11:00 AM at Alps Road Presbyterian Church, 380 Alps Rd, Athens, GA 30606. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or American Cancer Society.
