Wayne E. McCarter, 87, of Athens GA, passed away peacefully, Friday, February 20, 2026.
He was the son of the late Jones E. (Red) and Margaret O. McCarter.
Wayne was a veteran of the US Army, serving in Germany during the Cold War. Wayne was married to his most beloved wife, Frances H. McCarter who preceded him in death in 2021. He spoke of her daily and was very happy to be reunited with her.
Mr. McCarter is survived by three children; Esther (Allen) McCarter-Arthur; Matthew McCarter, and Michelle M. Colombatti; three grandchildren, as well; McKenzie Bowen, Kae Lockheart, and Eliana Indigo Suarez. He is also survived by his younger sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Walter Hagan.
