BARNARDSVILLE – Joyce Ann Hensley, age 71, of Barnardsville, much beloved sister of Louise, left for her heavenly home on Tuesday, June 3, 2025.
Joyce was born on April 25, 1954, in Buncombe County where she had lived all her life. She travelled on her earthly journey overcoming many physical obstacles with the Lord’s help and grace along the way. She wore a sweet smile on her face and had an infectious giggle unlike no other.
She was the daughter of the late Willie Martin and Bonnie Gillis Hensley. She is also preceded in death by her baby brother, Donald Hensley; brother, Bobby Hensley; sister, Carolyn Hensley; brother-in-law, William Smith; and sister-in-law, Brenda Hensley.
She is survived by her devoted sister, Louise Smith; niece, Brooke Hensley Netta; nephew, Brendt Hensley and “Special Nephew”, Ernest Johnson and family.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, June 8, 2025, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Avenue, Weaverville, NC 28787 with the Reverend Tony Hooper and Mr. Steve McKinney officiating. Burial will follow in West Memorial Park, 40 Roberts Street, Weaverville. Visitation will be held from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
