Meadowview, VA – Joyce Marie Riffey Holmes, age 80, went to be with the Lord on October 9, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Joyce was a homemaker who loved to take care of her husband, kids, and home.
She was a cook for several years at Pennington Rest Home in Meadowview, VA. Joyce loved canning and keeping house and raising her kids. She was a devoted Christian and attended Lyndell Church of Christ. Joyce loved her family, friends, and her little dog, Diego.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Polly Riffey; siblings, Paul, Phillip, Allen, Katie, Josie Riffey, and Lorraine Riffey; and her husband, Donnie Holmes.
Joyce is survived by her daughter, Beth Holmes of Abingdon, VA; son, Michael Holmes and wife Debbie Holmes of Meadowview, VA; grandson, Jace Bonham; brother, Bill Riffey of Abingdon, VA; sisters, Loretta McCray and husband Gary of Hayters Gap, VA, Sharon Thomas of Abingdon, VA, Ruth Day of Ocala, FL, Charlotte Denton and husband Terry of Bristol, VA; sister-in-law, Marilyn Riffey of Abingdon, VA; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the family will be held 5:00-6:00 p.m. Friday, October 11, 2024, in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service. Funeral services will follow at 6:00 p.m. with Minister Johnny Farmer and Minister Joe Scroggins officiating. Committal services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday in Forest Hills Memory Gardens with Chris Riffey, Billy Riffey, Willie Counts, Mark Henderson, Willie Browning, Tommy Blevins, Walter Daniels, and Jason Bonham serving as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be Curtis Wilson and Gary Morrison.
