Joyce Lee Honey

Joyce Lee Honey, 82, of Waco, Texas, passed away peacefully at her home on August 4, 2025, surrounded by her family. Services will be 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 11, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Dr. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 10 at the funeral home.

Born on April 29, 1943, in North Zulch, Texas, to John and Ruby Holder, Joyce radiated warmth, laughter, & love to any and everybody she encountered.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of almost 68 years, Alton Dall Honey, her parents, brothers; John & Dennis Holder, & sisters; Loreda & Dorothy, Daughter-in-law Linda Marie, & Son-in-law Darrell.

She is survived by her children, Glen, Tina, Ronald (Linda L.), Bruce, Nicole (James), & Krista (Chris), sister Sybil, 31 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, 8 great great grandchildren, & many nieces & nephews.

Joyce lived a life rooted in love – love for her Savior, her family, and the simple joys that made each day bright. She cared for everyone with a tender heart, always putting others before herself. Her laughter filled her home as she danced around the living room to her favorite old-school tunes, and her mornings weren’t complete without a cup of coffee and a croissant. She cherished her daily soap operas or as she called them, her “stories”. She dedicated many heartfelt years to her lifelong church home, Edgefield Baptist Church. Her heart beat for Jesus in every season of her life. Her life was a hymn of praise, her service a testimony of unwavering faith. She has entered her eternal home in the arms of her Savior, where joy knows no end. She will be truly missed and loved for all the days to come.

Pallbearers will be Rickey Honey, Steven Honey, Shannon Honey, Chris Honey, Billie Honey, Aiden Honey, Bree Jimenez, & Alicia Honey.

Honorary pallbearers will be AJ Honey, Cheyanne Reyes, Rayne Rakes, Nevaeh Jimenez, Victoria Jimenez, & Faith Gassaway.

The family is deeply grateful for the compassionate care provided by Community Healthcare of Texas Hospice & their amazing nurse Heather, who loved & cared for Joyce immensely throughout her final days. We could never thank you enough.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in Joyce’s memory.
