Joyce Ann Hudson

Joyce Ann Stone Hudson passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at Covenant Place in Sumter, S.C. She was surrounded by members of her loving family.

Mrs. Hudson enjoyed 90 remarkable years filled with family, friends, travel, and dedicated service to her communities and churches, especially through Home Branch Baptist Church. Mrs. Hudson distinguished herself as a 30-year military spouse and worked over two decades in management roles with the Albuquerque Public School system. Always the impeccable hostess and cook, her recipes are enjoyed around the globe. Last summer she celebrated her 90th birthday in style with her family and numerous friends from the community. A beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, she led a cacophonous clan of characters through a unique and fulfilling nationwide adventure.

Mrs. Hudson is survived by sons: Kevin (Em), Tim (Helena) and Joey (Tanith), eleven grandchildren, and fifteen great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Hudson, daughter Terea Hudson, and son Ken Hudson.

Her life is celebrated by her home community of Home Branch, South Carolina, and by friends and family all over the world.

Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Wednesday at Home Branch Baptist Church on Christmas Eve morning, December 24th with Rev. Bennie Barwick and Rev. Allan Glass officiating.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 A.M. Wednesday at Home Branch Baptist Church.

Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
