David Gerald Conyers

David Gerald Conyers, 63, husband of Tara Henderson Conyers, died Sunday, February 8, 2026, at his home.

Born October 25, 1962, in Sumter, he was a son of Paulette Robinson Conyers and the late R.L. Conyers. He was a member of Wise Drive Church of the Nazarene. He loved his church and bass fishing was his passion. He loved his family especially those wonderful grandkids.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 45 years; three children, Ryan Gerald Conyers (Stephanie), Amber Brooke Wilson (David) and Megan Gwynne Conyers (D.D. Benbow); six grandchildren, Alyson Blaine Geddings, Andrew Ryan Conyers, Cooper Law Geddings, Marley Bella Henderson Conyers, Addison Gray Conyers, and Gage Wilson Benbow; a brother, Rev. Rusty Conyers (Maria); a number of very special nephews and nieces; and his great friend and fishing buddy, Benny "Binky" Ross.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Rev. Richard Lee Conyers.

Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Thursday, February 12, 2026, at Wise Drive Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Sammy Geddings officiating. Burial will be in the Sumter Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be his nephews, Lee Conyers, Chad Conyers, Clint Conyers, Mark Buitureira, Ray Purvis, and Van Purvis.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Hugh Stoddard, Dr. Mark Crabbe, Benny Ross, Dean Honeycutt, James "Jimmy" Matlock, and Jay Clevie Sanders.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home of his mother.
