Joyce Patricia Jakey

Joyce P. Jakey of Eastpointe passed away on Friday Oct. 17th suddenly at the age of 77 in her home where she resided with her daughter, son-in-law and grandson in her retirement.

She was raised in East Detroit by the late Patricia (Hebert) and John "Pete" Charland. She was the proud elder sister to John (Jan) Charland, Janice (Mike) Kelly, Jim (Lorie) Charland and the late Jerry Charland. 

She married and divorced Stanley Graham. She also married and divorced the late Charles Brooks but not before producing three children in Detroit, the late Brianscott Brooks, the late Jason (Anjiloak Hathaway) Brooks and Ronnelle (Charles III) Bienenstein. After her divorce she returned to her mothers home in Eastpointe and graduated high school from East Detroit High in 1989. She then married the late Maurice "Bob" Jakey and moved to Chesterfield. They enjoyed 22 years of marriage before his passing. She is survived by her beloved grandson Charles IV and her step-grandchildren Amanda (Aaron) Kitts, Jessica (Troy) Fox and great grandchildren. Preceded in death by Robbie. Her memory also lives on through her god daughter Jodie (Cliff) Franklin and their son Evan, as well as all the numerous extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins, second cousins, in-laws and friends. 

She was most proud of her volunteer work with Assumption Grotto Catholic Church of Detroit and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 7573, where she was a life member.The family will be hosting a Remembrance Memorial for all who would like to attend at the VFW Post 7573 Cove, (east entrance) 35011 23 mile Rd,New Baltimore, MI 48047 on Sunday November 9th. Doors open at noon, the ceremony will be held at 1:00 with food to follow.
