Mrs. Joyce Ann (Walden) Johnson of Jacksboro, Tennessee, received her ultimate healing and went to her heavenly home on July 24, 2025. Joyce grew up in the Stinking Creek community. She faithfully served in several ministries at Stanfield Church of God and later at LaFollette Church of God, including decades as a Sunday School teacher. She was deeply devoted to the Lord for her entire life. Joyce retired from First National Bank of LaFollette (Community Trust), where she always appreciated her special coworkers. Her family knew her as an excellent cook and talented seamstress who sewed quilts for each of them that they cherish.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hansford Luther Walden and Flossie (Ayers) Walden, her brothers, James Edward Walden and Jerry Lee Walden, and grandparents, Charlie & Nan Walden and Kelly & Hattie Ayers.
She is survived by a family that she deeply loved: Husband, Gary Johnson; Daughters, Pam Walden and husband Bob, Monica Bane and husband Clint, and Tiffany Bruce and husband Chris; Grandchildren, Zachary R. Walden, Brooke Hyslope and husband Gage, Jared Bane and wife Macy, Ainsley Bruce, Brynn Bruce, and William Bruce; Brothers, R.L. Walden and wife Faye, Don Walden and wife Donna, and Roger Walden and wife Margie; Sisters-in-law, Joyce Walden and Linda Reynolds; and a host of other family members and friends.
The family would like to thank LaFollette Courts Assisted Living and UT Hospice for their exceptional care and compassion they displayed toward Joyce.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 27, 2025, from 4 pm-7 pm at LaFollette Church of God with funeral service to follow, Bishop Delmus Bruce and Bob Walden officiating. Family and friends will meet on Monday, July 28, 2025, 10:30 am at Walters Funeral Home and go in funeral procession to Powell Valley Cemetery for 11 am graveside services and interment. Walters Funeral Home of LaFollette is honored to be serving the family of Mrs. Joyce Ann (Walden) Johnson.
