Joyce Ann Johnson ObituaryJOYCE ANN (DRUMGOOLE) JOHNSON, 73 of Whiteford, MD, passed away with her family at her bedside in the afternoon on Thursday, October 31, 2024 in Upper Chesapeake Medical Center, Bel Air, MD. While working for a convenience store in Essex, she met C. Robert Johnson, and they were married on April 22, 1978. They enjoyed 46 years of marriage until he passed away earlier on the 8th of this month.
Born on February 21, 1951 in Baltimore, MD, she was a daughter of the late John Drumgoole and Mildred Elizabeth (Schafferman) Drumgoole and a graduate of Patterson High School in Baltimore. She continued her education at Harford Community College receiving her nursing degree. As a registered nurse, she had worked for the late Dr. Juan Baertl, at the former Fallston Hospital and retired in 2010 after years of service with Franklin Square Hospital in the Emergency Room. Continuing in her caring spirit, she moved her mother into her home and cared for her until she passed.
In addition to caring for her family, Joyce was a dedicated volunteer with the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion Post #182 in Whiteford, MD. She helped with the holiday dinners that were delivered to local families, served numerous years at the president, helped with social events and was a faithful bingo player. Joyce loved all types of animals and would have fed them all if possible. She made sure the outside animals that she could help were fed as well as rescuing those she brought in to her home.
Joyce will be remembered for her kindness above all. Her smile brought joy to your heart, and her company was always a blessing. Her family takes comfort in knowing she has been reunited with Bobby as she missed him very much.

Numerous loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her granddaughter in 2007, Sophia Gerben.
Services will begin at Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main St, Delta, PA on Tuesday, November 5th with a viewing from 6-8 p.m.
The funeral service will follow on Wednesday, at 11 a.m.
Interment will be in Fawn Grove Cemetery with the procession led by the American Legion Riders of Post #182, Whiteford, MD.
