Per Joyce's wishes cremation rites will be accorded with burial in Fairlawn Cemetery, Vandalia, at a later date. Memorials may be made to Second Chance Animal Rescue. Online condolences can be expressed at www.hohltandfilefh.com
Joyce Laura Hammel was born April 14, 1931, in Racine, WI, the daughter of Wiley O. and Anna (Cheslausky) Hammel. She married Charles Hammel July 31, 1950; together they shared over 50 years of marriage and raised two children. Joyce was a case worker for the Department of Human Services in Vandalia. After she retired, she opened and ran L&M Antiques in downtown Vandalia for over 20 years. Joyce loved all farm animals, most recently she was raising goats and fourteen donkeys. She enjoyed crafting, collecting antiques, and flower gardening.
She is survived by her daughter, Lori and husband Mike Anderson; son C. Shane Lambert and wife Becky; granddaughter, Cassidy Anderson; and two grandsons, Riley Lambert and Ryan Lambert all of Vandalia.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
