Joyce Land

Joyce Ann Land, 85, of Boonville, passed away at Katy Manor in Pilot Grove on October 20, 2024, with her daughter by her side. Born on December 21, 1938, in Shelbyville, Indiana, Joyce was the daughter of Clarence Reinbold and Mamie Lucille Alexander Reinbold. She graduated from New Franklin High School and went on to marry Robert (Bob) Land on January 21, 1958. Together, they raised four children Michel Wayne Land, Pamela Jo Mansell, Gary Lee Land (Pat) of Poplar Bluff and Carlena Lynn Klusmeyer of Lee's Summit.
Joyce's family was her pride and joy, including her beloved grandchildren: Kurt, Jessica, Kelly, Eric, Natalie, Bradley, and Sydney, along with her 10 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
In her earlier years, Joyce was known for her work as a waitress in beloved Boonville establishments like Holt's Café and Big Johns, as well as her time at the Shoe Factory and Boben Manufacturing. However, she is most fondly remembered for her long tenure as a cashier at The Bobber restaurant. Joyce had a special gift for caring for others, serving as a loving babysitter for many children in the area and offering her time to drive friends and neighbors to church and appointments.
A devoted Christian for over 60 years, Joyce joined the First Assembly of God Church in Boonville, where she was baptized and volunteered for many years. Later, she became a member of Riverside Christian Church, where she enjoyed participating in services and especially loved her time with the LAF group. She cared deeply for her church family. Joyce was also a member of the Gideons for several years.
Joyce celebrated life with an infectious spirit, always bringing joy to those around her. She cherished holidays, creating traditions for her family, like her famous Christmas cheeseball. She would start making Thanksgiving stuffing a week in advance, insisting it wouldn't taste right otherwise. Her love for Halloween was evident in her elaborate decorations and costumes that delighted her friends. Surprisingly, she had a knack for the Dr. Mario Nintendo game, becoming a spirited competitor who loved challenging others with her playful and sometimes teasing wit.
Joyce's fun and sassy personality brought joy to all who knew her. She loved God, family, friends and life itself. She will be profoundly missed.
Joyce was preceded in death by her husband Robert Land, son Michael Land, daughter Pamela Mansell, parents Clarence and Mamie Reinbold, brother Leroy Reinbold, and half-sister Betty Bondurant Elliott.

Services will be held at Riverside Christian Church Friday, November 1, 2024 at 12:30 p.m. Prior to the service, there will be a visitation from 12-12:30 PM. Burial will be at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville.
