Joyce A. Logan, 89, died peacefully in her home with her loving family at her bedside on December 15, 2025.
Joyce was born November 9, 1936, to Anthony and Joan Sarafite in Punxsutawney, PA. She graduated from Saints Cosmos & Damien High School. After graduation she went on to complete her degree as a Registered Nurse in 1958 at Spencer Hospital, Meadville, PA.
While in Meadville, she met and married her husband Clinton J. Logan in June of 1959. In 1962, they moved to Pittsburgh so Clint could attend the University of Pittsburgh Dental School. While in Pittsburgh, Joyce worked at Shadyside and Eye & Ear Hospitals.
Upon Clint’s graduation from dental school, they moved back to Meadville where Dr. Logan opened his dental practice. During that time, Joyce was Health Coordinator for Crawford County Head Start, substitute school nurse, and on the nursing staff at Ghering Health Center, Edinboro University. She retired from the Pennsylvania Department of Health as a Nurse Consultant.
Joyce was very active, along with her involvement in community affairs she was an avid reader, biker, hiker, gardener and a devoted grandmother. She loved her friends and was surrounded by a wonderful group of women – to those incredible women she says, ‘Thank you for all the support and kindness”.
She was preceded in death by her husband Clint and leaves behind three daughters: Elisa Logan and her husband Steven Margolis, Deann Taylor and her husband Jamie Taylor, and Kristin Hope and her partner Charlie Heller.
Her 6 grandsons held a special place in her heart and were her top priority they are: Clinton and Nicholas Taylor; Spencer and Clayton Hope; and Bryce and Zachary Margolis.
Her final wish was to remind people to, “just be kind”.
A joint Memorial Mass will be held for Joyce and her husband Clint on Friday, December 19, 2025, at 2:00 PM in The Epiphany of the Lord Parish, St. Agatha Church, 353 Pine Street, Meadville with Father Jeffrey Lucas, as celebrant. Family and friends are invited to Dominico Restaurant for a repast following the Mass.
Inurnment will be at a later date in St. Brigid Cemetery.
