April 20, 1938 - September 25, 2025
Joyce Ann Meeker went home to her God on September 25, 2025. Born in San Antonio, Texas, on April 20, 1938, Joyce lived a life defined by love, faith, and play.
For more than six decades, Joyce dedicated herself to Scouting, involving her children and grandchildren in the program. She served in countless roles, earned numerous awards, and became affectionately known to many colleagues as "Mom" or "Grandma." Whenever someone felt excluded, Joyce worked to show them that Scouting could be a place of fun and belonging that helped children flourish.
A lifelong Christian, Joyce loved to talk about the Bible, Jesus, and the spiritual agency of children in church. She never stopped working to ensure that children had a place in God's family, grounding her faith in the authority of scripture and the ministry of Jesus. She made it her mission to connect with others - regardless of race, religion, or status - because she believed that is what God does.
Joyce is survived by her sons, Howard and Brian; daughters-in-law, Annette and Karen; grandchildren, Steven, Kevin, Nick, and Megan; siblings, Richard and Cecilia; and countless other beloved relatives. She will be remembered for her steadfast faith and her lifelong dedication to the youth of this country.
