Joyce Ann Meadows Merica, 86, of Elkton, passed away Sunday, March 23, 2025 at Sentara RMH Medical Center in Harrisonburg with her family by her side. She was born March 23, 1939 in Page County, Virginia and was the daughter of the late Herman Jefferson Meadows and Mary Arbutus Hammer Meadows.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Lee Merica and a great-grandson, Cameron Shuler.
Joyce worked as a seamstress for Elkton Garment Company for many years and Shenandoah Valley Poultry as a line worker. She loved quilting for the family, her vegetable garden and canning. Joyce enjoyed spending time outside, loved her flowers; roses were her favorite. She was the last surviving member of her siblings. She lived her entire life in the Elkton area. Joyce never met a stranger and you knew her life story within a short time of talking to her. She will be missed by all those who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her son, David Merica and wife, Tasha; daughters, Joyce "Joy" Shuler and husband, Clinton, Sharon Jacobs and husband, John, Carolyn Chandler; grandchildren, Zachary Chandler, Emily Shuler, Ethan Chandler, Amanda Saufley and husband, Jason, Brianna Hawkins and husband, Gary; great-grandchildren, Arianna Hawkins, Hope Whitmer, Ryan Hawkins, Harlan Saufley, Jagger Chandler, Graham Saufley as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
A Graveside Service will be conducted 2 p.m., Saturday, March 29, 2025 at Elk Run Cemetery in Elkton with Pastor Carter Dean officiating.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity of your choosing in her memory.
