Joyce Messick Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by John M. Ireland & Son Funeral Home and Chapel on Mar. 23, 2023.
Joyce Marie Messick of Minco, Oklahoma, passed away from this life far too soon on March 17, 2023, at the age of 56. Joyce was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, on April 21, 1966, the daughter of Clifford Kiplinger and Violet (Miller) Kiplinger.
Joyce grew up in Oklahoma City and attended Capitol Hill High School. She spent most of her working career in the hospitality industry, working in hotels as a Housekeeper. She was an incredibly hard worker and a wonderful homemaker, always providing well for her family. Known as an outspoken straight shooter with a heart of gold, you never had to guess where Joyce stood on the issues. She was generous and kind and would do anything to help someone in need. Joyce utterly adored her family and cherished nothing more than time spent with those she loved. She enjoyed playing Bingo often and loved trips to the casino, where she enjoyed playing the slots and loved visiting with her friends. She also loved going out for Chinese food, and when she cooked at home, she enjoyed making Southern specialties like her delicious fried chicken and meatloaf. Joyce was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Her dedication to her family, and the pure love she had for those in her life were always deeply felt and appreciated. Joyce will be dearly missed by all those whose lives she touched.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Violet and Clifford Kiplinger, two brothers, Eddie and Carl Kiplinger, and two sisters, Debra Kiplinger, and Roseanna Spears.
Left to treasure her memory are her four daughters, Jessica Messick of Moore, OK, Violet Messick of Minco, OK, Crystal Messick of Tuttle, OK, and Lamanda Richardson and her husband Steven of Moore, OK; thirteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild; three brothers, Charles Kiplinger of Cromwell, OK, James Kiplinger, and Jesse Kiplinger, both of Oklahoma City, and one sister, Thelma Mills of Lawton, OK; along with her longtime companion, Raymond Atterberry, her former partner of 25 years, Clarence Bearden, and many more loving family members and friends.
