Joyce E. Moulder, age 89, of Shelbyville, passed away on December 15, 2025, at her residence.
Funeral services honoring her life will take place at 2 p.m. on Friday, December 19, 2025, at Schilling Funeral Home with Pastor Ron Dickinson officiating. Burial will take place at a later date. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 1 p.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the funeral home.
Joyce was born on December 13, 1936, in Mattoon, Illinois, the daughter of Jess and Viriginia (Horn) Stone. She married Bennett C. Moulder on February 16, 1957. He preceded her in death on January 19, 2020.
Survivors include her daughter, Melinda "Mendy" (Bryan E.) McGee; grandchildren, Jeremiah B. Willner (Christina Cardwell), Sarah (Thomas) Keal, Bennett (Toni) Peterson, Megan Morris, Aubrey Coats, Ronnie (Ashley) Nelson, Nick Manker (Jessica Kaiser) and Bryan McGee Jr.; great-grandchildren, Mercy (Rudy) Coats, Jackson Coats, Damaina Coats, Iven D. Willner, Aidin Willner, Rebecca Willner, Jeremiah Morris, Oliver Bauder and Vancent Bauder; great-great grandchildren, Caroline King and Aurora King.
In addition to her husband, Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; daughters, Rebecca Ann Moxley and Mary Ruth Nelson; brothers, David, Julian, Richard, Herman and Billy Victor Stone; and sisters, Dorothy Rose and Mary Stone.
Joyce lived a life marked by faith, integrity, and love for others. She devoted her career to serving at the Illinois School for the Blind, the Illinois School for the Deaf, and Jacksonville State Hospital, where her kindness, honesty, and gift for working with children left a lasting impression. Joyce was known for her brutal honesty; she meant what she said and lived what she believed. Her faith was central to her life, and she loved sharing it through Bible study, singing old hymns, and caring for those around her. A loving and thoughtful soul, Joyce found joy in crocheting scrubbies for family and friends, a simple but meaningful expression of her generous heart. Her life was a testament to serving others with truth, compassion, and unwavering faith. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew her.
