Joyce Marie Nelson, 77, of Cudahy Wisconsin took the hand of Jesus on June 28, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and love of family and friends. She was born on December 15, 1946, in Greenbush, MN to Joseph and Frances Kukowski. She moved to
Cudahy, Wisconsin in 1957 where she attended school and met the love of her life, John Nelson. They married October 8th of 1966 and had three children who were the center of her life. Joyce dedicated her life to her family and was fiercely devoted and loving to them. She was a proud grandmother and great grandmother, and loved singing songs, she created, to every one of them. Joyce was a Den mother for her sons and never missed a sporting event or dance recital for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, she was their greatest and loudest supporter. She loved celebrating holidays and spending time with her family and friends, and traveling with her husband, John. One of her cherished traditions was shopping the day after Thanksgiving with her daughter and daughter-in-law and finishing the day with dinner at Red Lobster. She was a loyal Green Bay Packer and Milwaukee Brewer fan and enjoyed rooting on her teams with a grand party. Joyce was a wonderful cook and passed down cherished recipes to her children and grandchildren, which will be enjoyed in her memory for years to come.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Frances Kukowski, her sisters Marilyn Janke and Joan McCarthy, her sister-in-law Deborah Kukowski her daughter-in-law Elaine Nelson, her nephews Kurt McCarthy, Christopher and Matthew Kukowski.
Joyce is survived by her husband John Nelson, her son Steven Nelson, daughter Jodi (Joseph) Zblewski, son Brian (Michelle) Nelson, Grandchildren Justin (Kimberly)Zblewski, Andi (John) Vendette, Joseph (Hannah) Nelson, Emma Nelson, Jacob Nelson, Sydney Nelson, John Nelson and Steven Nelson, Great Grandchildren Alec and Brayden Zblewski and Connor Vendette. Her brother Gary (Cynthia) Kukowski, Sister-in-law Penny (Randall) Scherf and Brother-in-law Niles Nelson. She is also survived by many more loving family and friends.
The Nelson family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the many caregivers and medical professionals who provided comfort to Joyce when it was needed most. Also, a special thanks to Oak Park Place and Preceptor Hospice Care who gave extraordinary care during Joyces' final journey.
Services for Joyce will be held on Tuesday July 9th, 2024 at DIVINE MERCY CATHOLIC CHURCH 800 Marquette Avenue, South Milwaukee. Visitation from 9:30 am -11:00 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am.
