Joyce Ann Osborne, 75, of
Glen Ellyn, IL, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2026 in the company of her family after a courageous battle with lymphoma. She was born on January 11, 1951 to James Osborne and Doris (née Marselli) in Chicago where she was raised with her two brothers. After a brief time living in Washington state as a young adult, Joyce returned to Illinois, eventually settling down in Melrose Park to raise her daughter and son. As a young single mom, Joyce proved to be tenacious in her pursuit of providing a better life for her family. Starting out as a waitress often taking on extra shifts, she found her calling as an award winning salesperson. Joyce ended her successful career owning her own company, proud of her accomplishments as a female entrepreneur.
Joyce was known for her devotion to her family. Aside from her immediate family, she was always close to her many aunts, uncles, and cousins, and enjoyed spending as much time as she could with them, even if only through a phone call. She loved to carry on the long-time tradition of making homemade ravioli with as many loved ones who could attend the annual event. Once becoming a grandmother, Joyce loved nothing more than spoiling her grandkids. She never missed a chance to attend a game, show, or event that was important to them. The real gift that she gave to them though was her example of how to love unconditionally and always show up for people. This caring nature and love of quality time with others is a legacy that will live on through generations to come.
Joyce had many interests and hobbies. A lifelong Cubs fan, Joyce enjoyed watching or listening to as many games as she could. She was always able to 'wow' people with her knowledge of the team and their performance. Joyce was an avid crocheter and loved to make blankets, hats, sweaters, and christening gowns for family and friends that were expecting. She enjoyed the act of gifting her lovingly made creations as much as she enjoyed making them. A long-time member of St. Michael's Catholic church in Wheaton, she was known to volunteer in their religious education program, attend prayer groups, and assist wherever she could. The world was a better place for having had her in it. Her memory will carry on, bringing a smile to those lucky enough to have known her when they see a sunflower, hear "Take me out to the Ballgame", or see an angel figurine or painting.
Joyce was preceded in passing by her parents and her older brother James "Jimmy" Osborne. She leaves behind her loving daughter Crystal (John) Lizon; her loyal son David (Jennifer) Osborne; adored grandchildren Lilliana, James, Olivia, and Evelyn; her devoted younger brother Dan (Rachel) Osborne; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Joyce, you may be gone from our sight, but never from our hearts. Not a day will go by without those left behind thinking "I love you more".
May her memory bring comfort to those who knew her and continue to inspire acts of kindness in her honor.
