Randall Scott Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by The Healy Chapel Funeral & Cremation Services - Sugar Grove Facility on Feb. 24, 2026.
Randall "Randy" Scott, 67, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Sugar Grove, IL on February 16, 2026. Randy was born on April 16, 1958 to Thomas and Jeanne (Panot) Scott. He spent the early years of his life growing up in Glen Ellyn, IL, along with his two older brothers Jack and Steve. He graduated from Glenbard West High school and later obtained two Associate Degrees from College of DuPage.

He married the love of his life, Catherine "Cathy" (Frieri) Scott in 1988. They lived in Wheaton, West Chicago, and finally settled in Sugar Grove in 2002.

Randy had a passion for riding and racing bicycles. He rode competitively for many years most of them with the Pepsi Cycling Team. Over the years he raced many types of races. He did track races at the Northbrook and Kenosha Velodromes. He raced in criteriums, road races, time trials, and some cyclocross and mountain bike races.

His specialty was time trials and he was the Illinois State Time Trial Champion. He qualified for and competed at the U.S. Nationals in time trialing and road racing. Many of his racing teammates and competitors have remained his lifelong friends.

Randy also had a love for trains. His collection of model trains and train memorabilia is quite impressive. A visit to a train museum wherever he would travel would be a must. On one trip he even got to ride in the cab of a steam engine.

Randy is survived by his wife, Catherine (Frieri) Scott, his brother Jack (Miriam) Scott, nephew Ben Scott, and his brother Stephen (Jacquelynne) Scott. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Sheila Frieri, sister-in-law Patricia Frieri, brother-in-laws, Michael (Rose) Frieri, Matthew Frieri, and Raymond Frieri and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026 from 12:45 - 2:45 at the Healy Chapel, 370 Division Dr., Sugar Grove IL.
