James Scott Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home & Crematory - Downtown Suffolk on Feb. 24, 2026.
James Darrell Scott ("Darrell"), 61, passed away on February 22, 2026.

Born on September 28, 1964, in Portsmouth, Darrell was a lifelong Virginian who built both his career and his family with steady hands and a generous heart.

Darrell dedicated his life's work to plumbing, HVAC, and gas services. He took pride in honest work and was known for showing up when people needed him most, often without hesitation and rarely expecting anything in return.

Above all, Darrell was a devoted family man. He is survived by his loving wife, Karen Scott; his son, Jacob Scott (Amanda); and his treasured granddaughters, Caroline and Willow Scott, who brought him immeasurable joy. He is also survived by his parents, James "Larry" and Mary Scott; his siblings, David Scott (Marianne), Amber Wyatt (Kevin), and Michael Scott (Jennifer); his nieces and nephew; and many others who held a special place in his life, including Linda Jean McClure, Joe Parsons, and Tiffany Linzy.

Darrell was known as a jokester, quick with humor and always ready with a playful comment. He had a servant's heart and consistently put others before himself, offering help whenever it was needed. Whether hunting in the early morning, fishing on the water, or cooking for family and friends, Darrell found joy in simple, meaningful moments spent with the people he loved.

A service to celebrate Darrell's life will be held at Main Street United Methodist Church, 202 N. Main St., Suffolk, VA 23434, on Saturday, March 7, at 11:00 AM. R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory, Downtown Suffolk, 509 W. Washington Street, Suffolk VA 23434 is serving the family. Condolences may be registered at RWBakerFH.com.

Darrell's legacy lives on in the laughter he shared, the lives he quietly helped, and the deep love he had for his family.
