Alan Willis Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home & Crematory - Downtown Suffolk on Feb. 23, 2026.
Alan Clark Willis Jr., 68, of Suffolk, Virginia, passed away on February 16, 2026. He was born to Alan Clark Willis Sr. and Ann Holbrook Willis.

Alan was a 1976 graduate of East Bridgewater High School in East Bridgewater, Massachusetts, where he was a standout multi-sport, athlete. He went on to attend Georgia Southern University, earning recognition as a talented pitcher. Following in the footsteps of his father, who pitched for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Alan signed a contract with the Cleveland Indians and played in Waterloo, Iowa. An injury unfortunately shortened his promising baseball career.

Alan later began a long and dedicated career with BAE Systems in Norfolk, Virginia. Starting as an apprentice rigger, he advanced to the position of shift supervisor, where he worked faithfully for over 30 years.

Throughout his life, Alan found his greatest joy outdoors, especially fishing. He cherished the lake behind his home in Suffolk, where he spent many peaceful hours. He also enjoyed traveling on fishing trips with lifelong friends and treasured time spent at the beach with family.

He is lovingly remembered by his mother; Ann Willis; his daughter, Emma Willis; and his brother, Mark Willis.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Suffolk Humane Society, where he adopted his dog, Coal.

R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory Downtown Suffolk Chapel is assisting the family. Condolences may be registered at RWBakerFH.com.
